Laia and Patrick Elope New Years Eve Elopement on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina

Laila and Patrick got married on New Years Eve in the most intimate ceremony on the beaches of Hilton Head Island. I know I don’t even have to say it but let’s just put it in here so we will for sure never forget….2020 was CRAZY. I am in awe of the positivity and persistence of the all of the couples who got married in 2020! One crazy awesome benefit of the craziness was that so many couples decided to forgo a large wedding day to instead travel to a beautiful place and elope.

There are so many benefits to eloping… these days are typically small, intimate, and have the ability to focus competely on the couple’s story. They are also such a joy to shoot. One of my favorite things about elopements is the scouting and exploring beforehand. Most of the elopements I have shot are out of town (because yes yes YES I do travel anywhere and everywhere people!) I had so much fun finding all of the most gorgeous spots on Hilton Head Island so that I could take Patrick and Laila there on the day of their wedding. If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I have a big ol’ soft spot for North and South Carolina. These states are home away from home for me and I am so grateful I get to to travel to NC and SC to shoot weddings and portraits sessions several times a year. It was my first time in Hilton Head but I will absolutely be back! A little tip if you’re ever there - you must go to Stack’s Pancakes and order the Harbour Town Hash. You won’t regret it ;)

One of my most favorite moments of Laila and Patrick’s day was when Patrick attempted to carry his bride over a puddle of ocean water. He slipped and fell, with Laila in his arms. They both busted out laughing and helped each other up. I think is a beautiful sign for their future marriage!
