Emily and Mark Get Married in Breckenridge, Colorado

Emily planned to leave Colorado. She said she was done with the snow and the cold and was ready to head off to her next travel nursing adventure, to sunny warm California to live with her good friend. But life had other plans because about two weeks later, Emily met Mark. The two quickly fell in love, Emily canceled her plans to leave to California and accepted a permanent position as an OB nurse in Breckenridge, the city where Mark worked as a policeman. Over the next two years, they traveled around the world, moved in together, adopted a really really awesome dog, and eventually, Mark proposed, on the top of a mountain. Pretty perfect, huh?

“Everything always works out for Emily.” Emily’s mom and stepdad were talking to me about the bride the morning of the wedding. We were on a hike and as they were helping me scout locations for photos later that day, Emily’s mom explained that life just always seemed to work out perfectly for her daughter. “Yeah but not in the way you think”, Emily’s stepdad interjected. He explained that, it wasn’t as if Emily had better luck or life liked her better than the rest of us. She just had a really optimistic attitude about it. “Everything works out for her because no matter what happens, she’s confident that life will always bring her a way to be happy.”

I thought this was really beautiful. Even though Emily had completely different plans, she trusted that after meeting and dating Mark for just a few weeks, he was going to make her really really happy. And he does. And life’s pretty cool like that. If were open to it, it will bring us some pretty amazing surprises.
